For Li Wei, this fight was no different from any of the others.
He aimed at his target, pulled the trigger, and fired.
By all rights, his bullet should have gone straight through the monster's head and turned it into a corpse.
That was how it should have gone.
Until a beam of light appeared.
"Whoosh!"
A beam suddenly shot from the monster's eye and struck Li Wei's bullet. With time slowed, he could clearly see the beam vaporize the bullet before grazing past him.
Are you kidding me? Is this a monster? This is a fucking magical beast!
Granted, during the vampire incident, Li Wei had seen a bat monster that could emit ultrasonic waves, but at least that had some scientific basis. It was a bat, after all. Ultrasonic waves were perfectly normal.
But what kind of monster shoots beams from its eye? Why not throw in Godzilla while you're at it?
What the fuck, have you dumped me straight into a fantasy world?
Li Wei grumbled inwardly, but he never stopped moving. He quickly stepped forward and, while [Death's Eye] was still active, shoved his gun's muzzle straight into the monster's open mouth.
Then he pulled the trigger again and immediately retreated.
"Bang!"
Time resumed its normal flow. Li Wei quickly dodged aside, then watched the mortally wounded monster charge forward, crash into the wall beside it, and fall to the ground. It writhed desperately, frightening the old professor and the others into scrambling out of the way. After struggling for a while, the monster finally went still.
Only then did everyone cautiously approach to examine its corpse.
"This thing's huge."
Joe couldn't help remarking as he looked at the monster. It appeared to be about the size of an adult monkey, which certainly wasn't small.
"Was
