Li Wei discovered that although Annie could neither carry loads on her shoulders nor lift anything with her hands, she served a very important purpose.
Applying debuffs.
To put it in RPG terms, Katie was the main tank, Li Wei and Ovelia were damage dealers, and Annie was a black mage who specialized in debuffing enemies. She seemed to have little direct offensive power, only piling effects like "fire weakness," "electricity weakness," "attack down," "defense down," and "speed down" onto the opposition.
It looked unremarkable on the surface, but sometimes you really couldn't do without it.
"For now, I don't know much."
Annie stared at the bone held between the tweezers and spoke softly.
"First, I can say for certain that these creatures are extremely flammable. Perhaps that's why they hide in the dark and never appear in sunlight. But there's one very strange thing..."
"Hmm?"
"Generally speaking, animals that live in darkness should have degenerated eyes, since they haven't needed to use them for so long. Yet these creatures remain highly sensitive to light, which is rather puzzling. I'm not entirely sure how they hunt. Of course, perhaps they don't behave like bats, but more like certain nocturnal birds of prey..."
Like owls, right? Practically blind during the day, only able to see clearly at night.
But the problem was that this place was pitch-black right now, clearly making it an ideal nest for them. Owls slept during the day because they couldn't see clearly then, but for these creatures hiding in caves, day and night should have made no difference.
At that thought, Li Wei decided to tell Annie a few things, including the torches he had found in the corridor and the large group of identical monsters he had discovered deep inside the Monastery through certain means.
