Soon, Ovelia and Katie returned with the maids' recorded statements. Li Wei read through them and set them aside. Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
"Come in."
A moment later, the door opened again, and Li Wei saw a warrior wearing a golden helmet and carrying a spear enter. He stood beside the door and looked outside.
"Please come in, Your Highness."
A delicate figure entered after him. It was the Princess.
Like the Queen, she had long, curly brown hair, and her clothes and accessories were lavish. But... if anyone asked Li Wei, she looked nothing like a princess.
The Prince from earlier might have been a little stupid, but he still possessed a royal's arrogance. This Princess, however, reminded Li Wei of a stray dog on the street, trembling as she crept along the wall with her tail tucked between her legs. She pitifully raised her head to glance at her guard, then lowered it again. Without even looking at Li Wei, she sat in the chair like a wandering ghost and said nothing.
"You can leave."
Li Wei glanced at the guard, but the man shook his head.
"Forgive me, but I cannot obey. I am the Princess's guard. I cannot leave Her Highness here alone."
"We do not allow unrelated personnel to be present during questioning. Please leave."
"And if I refuse?"
"Heh."
Li Wei stared at the guard, chuckled, then clapped his hands.
Soon, the Prince entered.
"What is it?"
"This fellow is obstructing the questioning. Take him out and lock him in a room."
Li Wei addressed the Prince, who frowned and turned to the guard.
"What is the meaning of this?"
"My duty is to protect Her Highness. If anything happens to her, I will be held responsible."
