"Ooooooh-!"
The roar echoed through the hollow chamber. The statue's enormous body arched backward, its face split wide open to expose the cavity within.
Inside, a blonde girl in a blue dress lay curled up, fast asleep.
Katie rolled inside, grabbed the girl, and shouted.
"I've got her, Mr. Li Wei!"
"Good!"
Hearing Katie's shout, Li Wei tightened his grip on the whip blade and lashed it toward her again, wrapping it around her arm. Katie caught hold of it in turn, and Li Wei pulled hard, hauling both of them out of the cavity. Holding the whip blade with Alice in her arms, Katie leaped down and landed beside Li Wei.
"Let's go!"
The chime announcing mission success rang in his ears, but Li Wei had no time to check the notification. Two enormous creatures rampaging through the mine had destabilized the entire place. Small pebbles had been falling moments ago; now, large chunks of rubble were crashing down. Li Wei had seen this sort of thing plenty of times in games and movies.
Clearly, this place was about to collapse!
Li Wei quickly led Katie and Alice off the Mecha and rejoined the old man, who had been waiting behind them. More and more rocks were tumbling down, smashing everything around them into a mess. At the same time, that voice rang out again.
"Don't think this is over... you'll pay with your lives for the crime of destroying my stage!"
Before the voice had finished speaking, the statue pinned beneath the Mecha suddenly raised its hand, clenched its fist, and slammed it into the wall beside it.
Boom!
The earth shook. The instant the statue's fist struck the rock wall, the entire mine began trembling as though hit by an earthquake. Even the ground cracked open!
"Go!"
