"How are those three doing?"
Watching the doctor emerge from the infirmary, Li Wei asked curiously. The doctor shook his head.
"The prophet seems to have suffered severe psychological trauma, and the other two aren't in good shape mentally either. What exactly happened to you?"
"Nothing much. We ran into a monster, and those three passed out the moment they saw it. They didn't even put up a fight."
Li Wei looked thoroughly exasperated.
"For people in this line of work, they seem to have pretty poor psychological resilience."
"Do they?"
Instead, the doctor gave Li Wei a surprised look.
"Sir Li Wei, you may not be aware of this, but most members develop some psychological issues after a mission."
"Really?"
"Sir Li Wei, don't you get scared when you go on missions?"
"Of course I'm afraid of dying."
"But when you see those monsters, doesn't their appearance fill you with dread and terror? The agent said he saw a terrifying being that seemed as though it couldn't possibly exist in this world. It completely overturned everything he'd ever believed..."
"Aren't all monsters like that? If they didn't look that way, why would we call them monsters?"
Li Wei and the doctor stared at each other for a moment.
"All right, maybe I've seen so many that I've become numb to them."
"Then you must have encountered them many times."
The doctor sounded impressed.
"Well..."
Li Wei said nothing more and merely shrugged. Indeed, now that he thought about it, the people of this world were different from him. He came from a society where information was readily available, and he'd watched so many ghost movies, monster movies, horror movies, and gore flicks that he was sick of them. Naturally, he'd long since built up a resistance.
