Other countries sent spies into the Empire, and naturally, the Empire sent spies into other countries. Fair was fair.
And this time, the information Military Intelligence Section Seven had obtained was connected to Li Wei, too.
While on vacation earlier, Li Wei had caught a spy trying to awaken the Plague Child in Delicate. The man had gone to Francis to study and been turned there. Anthony had come over to interrogate him, but he had not gotten many leads out of that incompetent amateur.
One lead had caught Anthony's attention, though. According to the spy, his training had taken place not in some spy school disguised as something else, nor in a dark basement or abandoned warehouse, but in the Cathedral in Francis.
That had left Anthony puzzled. People usually found some separate location to train spies like these. He had never heard of anyone bringing them straight into their own headquarters.
Figuring there was no harm in trying his luck, Anthony had activated his informants to look into what was going on at that Cathedral.
And those spies had actually managed to dig up some information.
According to intelligence sent back by a spy in the City of Flowers, the Holy Lord Church seemed to be planning a major move against Fog City and had already sent people into the surrounding area-well, they did not dare enter Fog City itself.
But the spy's information was incomplete. He had only occasionally overheard priests and bishops in the Cathedral discussing the subject, saying their people had reached the outskirts of Fog City and were standing by to act... as for what that operation was, or what they intended to do to Fog City, he had been unable to uncover those crucial details.
