Once they returned to the Eye of the Sky, Katie couldn't help complaining.
"It's not even a queen, but a king! I have no idea where things went wrong!"
"This is a parallel world, after all."
Li Wei remained calm.
"Even if everyone you know exists in this world, they won't necessarily be like you. They might even have completely different identities."
"Ugh... so that can happen too..."
Katie pouted in disappointment. She might originally have assumed that everyone in a parallel world would be the same, or perhaps only have slightly different personalities. In reality, however, even the same person would make different decisions under different social circumstances.
Their identities could also differ, as was the case with His Majesty the King.
"In any case, from what we've seen, the Empire here isn't doing very well."
Before meeting George V, Li Wei had already taken a tour of their military camp and examined the Empire's military equipment. Most of it was fairly ordinary. Even their main sources of heavy firepower were artillery and tanks, though these ran on internal combustion engines rather than steam power.
Frankly, in Li Wei's opinion, purely in terms of technological strength, the Empire here would be utterly crushed by the one in his world.
Fortunately, the Eye of the Sky had brought plenty of fuel. Its coal essence would last them a year. Otherwise, arriving here only to find they couldn't even get usable fuel would have been miserable.
Still, Li Wei had no intention of staying here for a year. That was why he had wanted to meet them. Meeting face-to-face often helped deepen mutual impressions. Besides, Li Wei knew absolutely nothing about this world, and he couldn't start an intelligence operation from scratch.
