The old man was astonished by how composed the two of them looked. He simply could not understand what gave these young people the confidence to say such things here. They had no idea how cunning and cruel these monsters were!

Still hoping to dissuade them, the old man looked at the pair and continued.
"This is underground, not the surface! I don't know how you got here, but this place has its own rules, completely different from the surface! If you think you can do things the way you do up there, it won't work!"
Despite the old man's blunt warning, Li Wei merely nodded.
"Don't worry, sir. I understand what you mean. But I believe some truths hold true everywhere, whether on the surface or underground. As long as we treat others sincerely, I believe everyone can be reasoned with."

The sincere look on Li Wei's face left the old man speechless. He glanced at Katie beside him, but she simply giggled and nodded at him too.

The old man still wanted to try persuading them, but just then, heavy footsteps sounded outside the door. His expression changed dramatically. Before he could do anything else, the closed door opened, and the guard from earlier walked in.
It narrowed its eyes, glanced at the old man, then turned to Li Wei and Katie with a sneer.
"The King wants to see you. Come with me."
