The Caldwell Family was one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Baldur's Gate. They enjoyed an excellent reputation throughout the city and had always donated generously to the various temples and churches. For that very reason, the unimaginable tragedy that befell them attracted all the more attention.
"So, this is the case we'll be investigating next."
Li Wei glanced at the notebook in his hand. It contained the information he had received from Captain Zodi.
"Miss Gladys Caldwell, sixteen years old, is the granddaughter of the Caldwell Family's current head. Three days ago, she went out to attend a tea party she'd been invited to, then disappeared. That's the case we're investigating."
"A tea party? Did she get there or not?"
Katie asked curiously, and Li Wei flipped through his notebook.
"No. The invitation came from a friend, who waited for Miss Caldwell, but she never arrived. At first, her friend assumed something had delayed her, so she sent a servant to the Caldwell residence to ask. They learned that Miss Caldwell had left long ago. That was when everyone realized something was wrong and hurried to search everywhere. From what we know so far, she was probably kidnapped."
"You're that sure?"
"Because this is a magical world, Miss Katie."
Li Wei closed his notebook and shrugged.
"According to Captain Zodi, these noble children wear magical items for protection whenever they go out, and they also carry something like a transmitter. If they're abducted, people can locate them. But this young lady has been missing for three days, with no sign of her alive or dead. The Caldwell Family even asked the temple priests for help, and they still couldn't find her. Presumably, whoever took her used some method to hide her."
