Boom! Boom! Boom!
Amid the thunderous explosions, Divine Fire Flying Crows launched one after another. Below the hillside position, a swarm of crawling Human-Head Centipedes turned into charred centipedes in the blink of an eye. Many were even blasted apart, their severed limbs flying everywhere.
But several powerful Heavenly Treasure Centipedes surged up through their ranks, rearing upright like giant pythons.
"Aaah!"
Song, one of the Mountain Folk, jumped in fright and froze where he stood, barely able to move.
Fortunately, a quick-eyed companion shoved him aside just as a Human-Head Centipede's sharp nails swept past. The blade formed from gang essence carved a deep gash into the rock behind him.
Shan, the leader of the Shaman Folk, rushed over from the side and drove his spear through the Heavenly Treasure Centipede's eye socket. He followed with a kick, sending it down the slope, then turned and cursed at Song. "What are you standing there gawking for? You can't freeze up on the battlefield!"
Trembling, Song raised his weapon and nodded with tears in his eyes. His boyish face, still bearing traces of childhood, showed a resolve born of both shame and determination.
Sure enough, when another Human-Head Centipede charged up the slope, Song struck as bravely and decisively as those seasoned hunters.
Squelch!
Their sharp blades and spears were no less powerful than the claws and fangs of those spirit beasts. Combined with the ancient martial arts they practiced, they easily pierced their enemies' bodies.
Watching the hideous Human-Head Centipede tumble down the slope like a log hurled from a rampart, Song felt the exhilaration and pride of defeating a formidable enemy.
I... I'm finally a warrior too!
"Hahahaha, not bad, lad! That's the way!"
"There's nothing to fear from these monsters. Just stab them in the eye sockets
