Travel by teleportation was convenient, but expensive.
A single trip cost hundreds or thousands of gold coins, sometimes even several thousand or tens of thousands. Even High Mages were reluctant to pay out of their own pockets.
After all, a few such trips would cost enough to buy magical equipment or conduct some small-scale experiments.
Atrelin, however, offered preferential treatment to Arcanists. High-ranking Arcanists received publicly funded travel allowances, which they could even use for other people.
Lunifis also seemed inclined to spend the remainder of her allowance before the year ended, treating it as an invitation for Roland to travel at public expense.
Roland gladly accepted, and they settled on an itinerary.
"To reach Isser from the Orvisto Wizard Tower, you'll pass through the Teleportation Array stations at Nevis City, Sals Royal City, Doran Royal City, and Atrelin Continent Central Station. Even if your constitution is strong enough to keep you from getting teleportation sickness, the successive transfers will take two days. Let's book your departure for the morning of the twenty-eighth, then, with your arrival in Isser on the thirtieth.
The Yther Wizard Tower will arrange a welcoming reception for you, and I'll come from Snowfort to meet you.
You can use January first through fourth to rest and prepare your lecture. That will also give the Yther Wizard Tower time to make the official announcement and gather the mages.
You can give the lecture on January fifth. It should last about an hour, and if you're willing, you can take questions from the press or the mages afterward.
Once the lecture is over, you can spend some time vacationing in my private domain, Snowfort Territory. We can go skiing, hunting..."
Lunifis laid out a detailed plan.
Roland had no objections. "All right, let's settle on that."
