He had already gone to the Exit and come back? Shi Chun and An Wuzhi were astonished. That was impossible, given the distance.
"Go! The people from Summer Path Mountain are coming!" Chu Jingtang shouted urgently.
Shi Chun and An Wuzhi looked behind him. Sure enough, faint figures were charging toward them through the distant sky, where a reddish glow still lingered.
A wise man knew better than to suffer a needless beating. All three immediately turned and fled, with Chu Jingtang sweeping the other two up on his Wind Scales.
But the divine fire in An Wuzhi's hand stood out far too clearly in the darkness. A streak of light suddenly shot skyward from their pursuers.
Bang! An explosion rang out high overhead.
The three glanced back. The burst of fire seemed to have ignited the clouds above, bathing a vast swath of them in a splendor like the rising sun. It lasted for quite some time before a glimmer fell away and the immense radiance finally died.
The sight immediately filled all three with foreboding.
Sure enough, before long, they made out a group flying rapidly toward them from ahead. Despite the dim light, the group was heading straight for them.
Shi Chun suddenly realized something and said grimly, "Release the divine fire, now!"
"Huh?" An Wuzhi was aghast. How could he bear to give up the divine fire he had already secured?
Seeing him refuse to let go, Shi Chun urged again, "Our light is too obvious. We can't get away."
Chu Jingtang also shouted urgently, "Throw away the divine fire!"
An Wuzhi still could not bear to part with it.
By the time he steeled himself to do it, it was already too late.
During an interception at such speed, opportunities often vanished in a flash.
