In the end, Black Snake was faster and left the man far behind.
When no more Iron Pellets came flying, a thought stirred in his mind. After throwing so many in succession, the man had probably run out. In that case, he would go back and keep fighting.

His thermal vision picked up Xiao Yu quietly approaching down the slope.
The valley floor was strewn with rocks, its vegetation tangled and rampant, making passage extremely difficult. The light was even gloomier and darker than up on the mountain.
Panting, the man struggled through waist-high weeds. He looked up and saw the giant snake, which had just been fleeing for its life, coming back. Shock and fury surged through him, and he raised his iron rod and charged straight at it.
But the weeds beneath his feet were a tangled mass of roots. Barely two steps into his charge, he tripped and staggered.
Inspiration flashed through Black Snake's mind.
His enormous body abruptly stopped mid-charge.
Thinking the demonic bird was about to ambush him from behind again, the man spun around, raising his left arm to shield his face and the side of his head.
Yet behind him there was nothing but trampled weeds.
He had fallen for it again-
Black Snake had already burst forward. Tilting his head, he opened his jaws and clamped down on the man's waist and abdomen, using the momentum of his charge to slam his prey hard against a boulder. Unexpectedly, his venomous fangs could not pierce through, blocked by something tough. Had he known, he would have bitten somewhere else.
Blood filled the man's mouth from the impact, but he still fought back like a madman,
