No wonder all manner of mysterious legends circulated through the Mortal Realm. He had to admit, this certainly looked convincing.
A pillar of white light descended from the sky. The figure within wore magnificent robes, her bearing full-figured and dignified. Her stance, her features, even the angle of her lowered gaze were all just right, like a Celestial Person who had stepped down from a mural.
What ordinary mortal, confronted with such a spectacle, would still think to question whether it was real? Their legs would give way, and they would naturally fall to their knees.
Jin Si looked at Master Wang, whose face brimmed with excitement.
"Stand up straight. You'd better not kneel. If you really do, even I won't be able to save you."
Master Wang immediately bristled at his words, glaring and snapping in anger.
"Where did this ignorant brat come from! How dare you disrespect..."
The words caught on his tongue. His mouth hung open, his gaze wavering as he stole a glance at the figure in the white light, his heart beating like a drum. He could not tell which faith she belonged to at all. He swallowed, afraid to utter even half a word incorrectly. A disrespectful remark would invite disaster; he dared not make any careless associations.
"N-no insolence!"
Jin Si sniffled. He was not annoyed, and his tone remained even.
"If you find yourself seeing what your heart longs to see without understanding why, you need to be careful."
For no apparent reason, Master Wang's heart lurched at those words. The anger froze on his face, and for a moment he did not know what to say.
Jin Si paid him no further attention and turned his gaze toward the middle of the courtyard.
