Lu Changsheng immediately got to work.
He rapidly swung his claws, digging into the ground and quickly carving out a huge pit.
Then he continued digging toward the ant nest.
Rather than digging open the lakeshore directly, he planned to excavate a channel first. Once the time was right, he would breach the embankment. The water would then rush down the channel and swiftly fill that basin.
Lu Changsheng even roughly calculated the flow rate. A channel about two body-widths wide should be enough.
If the channel was too narrow, filling the basin would be too slow. If it was too wide, it would be extremely strenuous to dig. Two body-widths was just right.
As long as everything went smoothly, the basin would become a vast marshland in just a few days.
With that thought, he began digging like mad, filled with drive.
More than ten days later.
Lu Changsheng arrived at the edge of the lake again. Looking at the channel stretching endlessly behind him, he was delighted.
After days of hard labor, he had finally dug out this channel.
He had suffered quite a bit during that time. When he was hungry, he ate piranhas; when he was thirsty, he drank lake water.
After working day and night, he had finally completed his intended goal.
This was also the largest project he had undertaken recently.
Now, only the final step remained: breaching the embankment.
Lu Changsheng did not hesitate. He quickly ran to the edge of the channel, reaching an embankment near the lake.
He swung his claws with all his strength, scraping away the soil before him.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..."
Before long, he dug straight through the embankment and began widening the water outlet.
In no time, he had dug the outlet into a large opening.
"Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle..."
The instant he opened the gap, lake water burst forth, surging rapidly into the channel with tremendous force.
Lu Changsheng leaped onto the shore and ran alongside the flow of water.
Several hours later.
He returned to the tree before the mountain, his eyes fixed on the water channel behind him.
Water rushed endlessly toward the basin, an unceasing torrent that seemed infinite.
Before long, the area around the mountain had turned into a small marsh.
Some of the small animals nearby fled in terror. They had long sensed the approaching danger.
They ran straight toward higher ground ahead.
At this rate, the foot of the mountain would sooner or later be completely submerged. That would be the time for him to strike.
He was in no hurry. Instead, he waited with great patience.
Five days later.
Lu Changsheng looked at the vast floodwaters covering the ground with delight. Even the base of the tree where he lived had been submerged.
The mountain ahead was already completely soaked in the frigid lake water.
"Awwooo..."
Just then, a strange wail rang out.
A large Blazing Fire Ant led countless ants as they relocated toward the mountaintop. They formed a dense, sprawling mass that made one's scalp prickle.
"It's actually the Ant Queen."
His eyes shifted slightly as he watched the scene.
This Ant Queen was enormous, only slightly smaller than himself.
Her blood-red eyes brimmed with Sha Qi, and together with the pair of sharp fangs on her head, she looked exceedingly difficult to provoke.
"Good thing it's only a second-tier Exotic Beast."
Seeing this, Lu Changsheng inwardly sighed in relief.
Still, with the ant army at her command, if not for this lake water, he would not gain much by rashly charging in.
Thankfully, he had not acted too recklessly.
Now that they were ants fallen into the water, it was time for him to strike.
"Splash..."
Lu Changsheng hesitated no longer. He kicked off hard with both legs and plunged into the icy lake.
Then, paddling with his limbs, he swam straight toward the mountain ahead.
Before long, he reached the mountain's outer edge. Without pausing, he headed directly in the original direction.
After weaving his way through, he soon arrived at the entrance he had left behind.
By now, the surrounding area had long been flooded by lake water, murky and indistinct.
Lu Changsheng continued forward along the passage.
"Hiss, hiss, hiss..."
At that moment, the Ant Queen discovered the intruder as well and began summoning her kin.
A great number of Blazing Fire Ants crawled onto the mountain, surrounding Lu Changsheng. Yet not a single one dared enter the water. All of them hesitated and held back.
Under the Ant Queen's furious urging, some Blazing Fire Ants finally charged into the water.
"Glub..."
The moment they entered the water, these Blazing Fire Ants floundered everywhere like headless flies.
Clearly, they could not swim at all.
First-tier Exotic Beasts were still far from being able to disregard the laws of nature.
Even that second-tier Ant Queen did not dare dive in after him.
She could only shriek madly atop the mountain, her eyes full of rage.
Lu Changsheng was not the least bit flustered at the sight.
With his strength, if that Ant Queen dared enter the water, she would be courting death.
Once he hollowed out the mountain and left her with nowhere to stand, her death would come.
He no longer paid attention to the Blazing Fire Ants and swiftly swam deeper into the mountain.
Soon, he reached a stone wall.
He began swinging his claws, madly scraping away at the rock before him.
"Bang, bang, bang..."
The only sound left within the mountain was his digging.
He dug onward, and before long, a faint glimmer suddenly appeared ahead.
Lu Changsheng's face lit up, and he quickly approached the source of the light.
A Moon-Patterned Stone sat quietly embedded in the stone wall.
He immediately extended his sharp claws and dug it out.
"Source Energy Points +5."
Another Mid-Grade Moon-Patterned Stone.
Watching the Source Energy Points come in, he was immensely satisfied.
Filled with vigor once more, he set off down the path of excavation again.
Six days later.
Lu Changsheng looked at the values on the Attribute Panel with delight.
Source Energy Points: 295.
This was the first time he had nearly broken through the three-hundred mark. He suddenly felt like a nouveau riche.
After exploring for the past several days, he had mined all the spirit ores in this mountain clean and found several more mid-grade spirit ores.
Unfortunately, he had not discovered any high-grade spirit ore. Even so, he was extremely satisfied.
He had grown somewhat impatient these past few days. Now that he had enough Source Energy Points, he no longer hesitated.
"System, add points for me!"
Lu Changsheng roared inwardly and clicked the plus sign on the panel twice in succession.
"Boom, boom, boom..."
His entire body began to swell violently. His blood and qi churned within him, while the scales all over his body rapidly strengthened.
A powerful aura erupted from within him. At the same time, some mysterious bloodline gradually began to awaken.
Who knew how long passed.
Lu Changsheng slowly opened his eyes, a streak of golden light surfacing within them.
He opened the panel.
Bound Exotic Beast: Mountain Spirit, third tier Divine Bloodline: One in a million. Level: 30. Innate Divine Abilities: Soul Strike (ordinary), Domination (ordinary). Skills: Burrowing, excellent; Armor Enhancement, fine; Underwater Breathing, fine. Source Energy Points: 185 Remarks: A Divine Creature transformed from the Pangolin Royal Clan. It contains a trace of faint bloodline power and possesses exceedingly wondrous strength. Soul Strike: Uses one's soul to form a spike and strike the enemy's mind. Its power is determined by the skill level and the enemy's tier. Domination: The Mountain Spirit's innate skill. It drives Exotic Beasts for its own use. The quantity is closely related to the skill level and the tier of the creatures being driven.
The results of this transformation were utterly astonishing.
It had transformed this Exotic Beast avatar completely into an entirely new species.
Even he did not understand the Divine Bloodline listed afterward.
"Could there be gods in this world?"
Lu Changsheng was deeply puzzled.
Though only one millionth of the bloodline had awakened, it was already exceedingly powerful.
Even among third-tier Exotic Beasts, it stood among the very best.
He felt that his strength had increased by more than fourfold.
Together with the two brand-new innate divine abilities, he was extremely excited.
Just from their descriptions, neither was simple. One was a soul attack, while the other was a slavery skill. Both were immensely practical.
Not only that, but all the scales on his body had turned pale gold, looking incomparably noble.
This transformation was nothing less than a fish leaping through the dragon gate.
