The night was black as ink.
Three figures raced through the darkness, each in a different fashion.
The one in the lead had an unremarkable figure and a faint presence, elusive and traceless. Anyone who saw him might have thought it merely their imagination.
Close behind him was an eerie white silhouette. It resembled a person, yet was thin and light as paper. It drifted and fluttered, stretching itself as it continually "unfurled" forward, exuding a sinister air.
The last seemed formless and immaterial, visible only as an ever-shifting halo of iridescent light. A single glance at it would stir a tangled host of thoughts in the heart-greed, anger, delusion, and desire-until one could scarcely maintain control.
"Market Lord Forgetting, is the information you sent truly accurate? Does that man really possess another cultivation system, distinct from 'Yin-Nourishing and Nether Gathering'?"
A cold, sinister voice emerged from the drifting, paper-white humanoid.
Leading the way ahead, Forgetting Daoist answered without turning his head:
"Fellow Daoist Paper, Fellow Daoist Desire, why would I deceive you about this? Didn't you both personally examine my injuries earlier?" The shifting iridescence spoke as well, its voice soft as a woman's.
"Indeed. The strand of power I extracted from Market Lord Forgetting's body was supremely yang and unyielding, abundant and pure, blazing and resplendent. It was utterly unlike anything that should exist in our Eternal Night Sea."
She fell silent for a moment, ripples passing through her iridescence. "I have existed for so long, yet never encountered such a radiant, uncanny power."
Paper Daoist remained silent, inwardly agreeing. He, too, had lived no short span of years, witnessed countless strange and unfathomable abilities, and encountered more than a few urban legends. Yet he had never come into contact with anything like the power lingering in Forgetting
