Chu Mo paused briefly, his gaze settling on the titles above their heads.
"Mooring Generals?"
He repeated the name silently, a flicker of curiosity crossing his eyes. An interesting name. Mooring boats... did that mean docking at a ferry crossing? Could they be guarding something?
He turned to Declining Fate. "Fellow Daoist, do you know where these three came from?"
Declining Fate shook his head, his expression somewhat grave. "I do not. I have been here several times, and each time I found them standing here. So long as you do not deliberately disturb them, they will not react."
He paused and pointed at the three strange halberds. "But those weapons they carry are rather unusual. They can corrode the soul and damage the mind. Coming into contact with them would be no small trouble."
Chu Mo's gaze shifted slightly as he studied the three halberds.
Their shafts were pitch-black, with dark patterns faintly flowing across them. The scarlet substance coiling around them seemed alive, churning at their tips as though countless tiny strands of blood had gathered together.
Declining Fate cautioned him, "Fellow Daoist, there is no need to bother with them. We can simply go around. These creatures recover very quickly and are difficult to kill. Once they latch onto you-"
Before he could finish, his eyes suddenly widened.
Rather than avoiding them, Chu Mo strode forward, heading straight for the three Mooring Generals.
"Fellow Daoist?!" Startled, Declining Fate hurriedly called out, "What are you doing?"
Without looking back, Chu Mo waved a hand casually. "Relax. I merely wish to study them a little."
Study them a little?
Declining Fate choked on his words. Watching that figure draw ever closer, he did not know what to say. Weren't they merely somewhat strange ghosts? What was there to study?
