Tai Yi looked at Chu Mo, who still wore that same "do I look like I believe you?" expression, and sighed. "I know what Du You is worried about, but do you know that my Great Dao is nothing like what you imagine?"
Without waiting for a response, he explained, "The essence of my Dao is exchange of equal value, not usurious exploitation. What Du You saw was merely some disciples below me straying down the wrong path."
"Uh..." Chu Mo froze for a moment. A loan shark kingpin was telling him about equivalent exchange. Why did he find that so hard to believe?
Even conceding ten thousand steps, suppose Tai Yi's Dao really was trade. That hardly meant he couldn't issue "usurious loans." How could a Great Dao be such an inconvenient thing?
But Chu Mo said nothing more on that point. "Please don't bring this up again, fellow Daoist, lest it harm the harmony between fellow disciples. The branches of Tribulation Deliverance share one breath and grow from the same roots. How could we scheme against one another?"
Though his words were righteous and stern, his expression remained bland. Seeing this, Tai Yi immediately understood what he meant and smiled faintly.
Rejection was nothing to fear. The real fear was that the other party wouldn't be tempted.
"My words must have caused Du You to misunderstand. We would merely be comparing our Great Daos and deepening our cooperation a little. How could we possibly harm our fellow disciples?"
As he spoke, Tai Yi's gaze shifted. "Du You, you've only just entered the Seventh Realm and still have some distance to go before perfection. If you need anything, feel free to come to me.
