A trace of greed gleamed in the Shadow Demon's eyes as he looked toward the corridor at the back. He knew there were more people there. The shadow beneath his feet stretched out, entering the dark corridor, passing through a closed door, and slipping into the dim living room.
The shadow spread through the living room. The sound of twisting bones came from within it, as though some terrifying monster were stretching its body. A distorted black figure rose from the darkness.
But a moment later, the shadows in the living room dispersed. He seemed to have sensed something unusual in the shadows of the nearby buildings.
The moment the bakery owner died in terror, the nearest Gargoyle had noticed something. It had heard the scream cut short.
A Gargoyle was a puppet with a spirit of its own. Unlike Demon Spirits such as Familiars, aside from its terrifying appearance, a Gargoyle gave off almost no detectable presence. It was extremely sensitive to sound and could distinguish the emotions within it.
Seen from the ground, a Gargoyle looked like some kind of bat in the sky. But when it beat its wings and approached the ground, the horror of this monster's seven-meter wingspan became apparent.
The Gargoyle made no sound. Even the beating of its wings blended into the cold wind of Digo's winter night.

Like a phantom in the night, the Gargoyle circled above the rooftops near the bakery.
