The crows filling the sky weighed heavily on the vampire and Farolynch, their raucous cries fraying their nerves. Fear came from the unknown, and waiting for an unknown terror was torment in itself.

"Stay calm. He's toying with us, trying to expose the weaknesses in our hearts."

The vampire had donned a cloak, black outside and red within. Fangs protruded from the corners of his mouth, and his eyes were icy, but his cold exterior could not conceal his anxiety. At least, it could not hide his fluctuating emotions from Mulan's demonic power.

Farolynch was hardly any better off. He was still far from fully developing his abilities, and all he could do now was keep gathering magic power to cover his body. Even so, he refused to back down verbally.

"I don't need you to tell me!"

Besides being nervous, Farolynch was even more worried about the mother and her two children, and Shire, who had gone after them. None of those four had truly crossed the threshold into the supernatural, making the Otherworld's horrors even more dangerous for them. Fortunately, they had the Book of Dawn. Farolynch could only comfort himself by reminding himself of that book's miraculous powers.

The sky went completely dark, utterly obscured by black wings. It seemed as though all light had vanished from the Otherworld, yet Farolynch and the vampire could still make out the silhouettes of countless crows.

"Caw... caw..."

"Caw..."

Suddenly, some of the crows seemed to go berserk. Countless birds began slaughtering one another, and dark red blood and black feathers fell endlessly from the sky like an extraordinarily eerie rain.

"Gulp... hey, you. They're eating each other. Does that count as good news?"
