Farolynch pointed toward the light flickering through the forest. Mulan spotted it at almost the same moment and raised Ring of Light.
Bang, bang, bang!
Several spears of light shot forward with the muzzle flashes, piercing the corpses and even the trees blocking their view, and sweeping away the corpses and Vengeful Spirits around Shire and the others.
"Balu."
Mulan gave a low growl. The burly man following close behind him stamped two deep pits into the ground, then charged forward as a black blur.
Roar!
Balu lowered his head slightly and held one arm across his front. Like a human tank, he smashed forward with terrifying speed and strength. Otherworld monsters, fallen trees, and scattered debris all shattered before him. Farolynch only had to follow.
As Balu and Farolynch reached the four people ahead, Mulan stayed where he was. He merely raised his left hand.
The next moment, the Book of Dawn vanished from Shire's hands and appeared in Mulan's almost simultaneously. A surging torrent of magic power, already gathered and waiting, flowed through Mulan's arm into the Book of Dawn.
"Light of Daybreak!"
The Dawn Mark appeared on the book's cover. An instant later, Dawn's symbol shone as brightly as the sun.
Boom!
A spherical curtain of light emerged from the Book of Dawn and expanded outward with explosive speed. Corpses and Vengeful Spirits alike disintegrated in its radiance. Even the gray-white forest began to dissolve.
"Get over here, quickly!"
Mulan shouted toward Farolynch and the others. Farolynch, who had just embraced Xin Erwei, had no time to exchange words of concern. They all ran toward Mulan.
The Book of Dawn blazed like a sun in Mulan's hand, sending out wave after wave of light, but Mulan himself was slowing down.
The countless crows overhead did not disperse.
