A great many ships appeared in the waters around Jewel Island. They included not only pirate ships, but even naval warships from several nations.
Kilga stood on his flagship's deck, looking toward distant Jewel Island, then surveying the surrounding waters. The wind and waves were strong, tossing some of the smaller vessels up and down.
"No storm once dared enter the Jewel Sea, but now it's become so ordinary. The chief no longer has the strength to keep these waters calm."
The speaker was Newt, once the Pirate King's trusted right-hand man. Now he stood beside Kilga. Much had happened to bring these two former enemies onto the same side.
A cold smile rested on Kilga's face.
"Bloomfield no longer deserves to be called the Pirate King. It isn't just his body that's rotted, but his soul, which has lost all its pride. In repayment for his relentless pursuit of me, let me put him out of his misery!"
"Once the chief dies, the seas will probably fall into chaos again for a while."
"Let's deal with what's in front of us first."
Countless ships closed in on Jewel Island, throwing many of its inhabitants into panic. Clearly, a large portion of them understood what fate awaited the island, and they were even more fearful for their own futures.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Shell after shell landed on Jewel Island, filling it with fire and explosions. Its limited number of cannons returned fire, but they often became priority targets.
The pirates who remained loyal to the Pirate King burned through the final moments of their lives.
Suddenly, the wind at sea grew stronger, and dark clouds began gathering overhead.
