Before dawn on the twenty-eighth, Mulan arrived early at Digo Railway Station. A train was already waiting quietly there-the Holy Temple's special train.

"Ahhh..."

Standing alone in the shadows in a corner of the station, Mulan yawned for the umpteenth time before several carriages finally arrived. A group of Holy Temple priests stepped out, Evan among them. After getting out, he glanced back in the direction they had come from, apparently waiting for someone.

"You're looking the wrong way, Priest Evan!"

Mulan called out as he emerged from the shadows beyond the gaslight. Wearing a long overcoat and a top hat, he approached with his cane, his leather shoes tapping rhythmically against the stone platform.

The Holy Temple priests all turned toward his voice, Evan included.

"Thought I wasn't coming?"

Mulan teased him with a smile. He and Evan exchanged a hearty high five, then clasped hands. This was rather unconventional behavior for Holy Temple priests, who placed great importance on their personal religious conduct. But many of the priests present knew Mulan and understood that he and Evan were good friends, so they all smiled warmly.

In fact, quite a few of Digo's Holy Temple clergy had a favorable impression of Mulan. That was partly because of Evan, but also because they all believed Mulan Jonester was a truly devout knight.

It was hardly surprising that they thought so. Unlike the many officials who came to the Holy Temple merely to go through the motions, Mulan Jonester, in their eyes, genuinely found peace of mind only at the Holy Temple. Whenever he faced difficulties or had something weighing on his heart, he came to confide in God. His faith in God and the Holy Light was plain to see.
