In that brief span, Mulan had no idea how far the monster had carried him. He could no longer worry about anything else. If he did not use his hidden power, he would not even survive.
With a ripping hiss, Fang sliced through the monster's armor-like shell and pierced its body.

In pain, the monster dug all four limbs into the ground, abruptly slowing as it tried to stop. The tremendous momentum hurled Mulan away like a cannonball.
"Bang!"
Mulan's body smashed through a tree and kept flying backward. Then his feet suddenly touched the ground. He leaned forward, bracing on both legs, churning up great swaths of earth as he slid backward.
Even as he continued sliding, Mulan had steadied himself.
"Whoosh!"
A fierce rush of air sounded. Mulan suddenly leaped aside, swinging his sword toward the churning air. A shower of sparks flew from the blade, followed by a cloud of red mist. His blind slash had actually caught the monster's eye.
"Roooar!"
Mulan's spirits lifted. Without pausing, he dodged again while drawing the Ring of Light with his other hand.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!"
One volley emptied the gun. Amid the light, the bullets trailed mist like six javelins, driving viciously toward the monster. Its enormous size and the pain of the previous blow left it neither room nor time to react.
Four bullets merely struck sparks, while two hit with the sound of piercing flesh, entering gaps in the monster's armor. A sound like water splashing into boiling oil accompanied them.
Mulan moved swiftly through the mist, having already reloaded the Ring of Light. He fired at the monster as it lunged at him again, using the Ring of Light's strange, shifting recoil to move rapidly and barely keep pace with it.
