Besides activating his inventory, he had also activated the skill system. For some reason, though, he could only use passive skills like Leap, Mind's Eye, and Danger Sense. Still, those skills allowed him to move around like a normal person now. None of the other skills worked, even after he put points into them. This alternate character of his was already level 25, yet despite the SP he had allocated, the skills remained grayed out.
Every day, he gazed out at the sea with those hollow eyes, even though he couldn't see a thing. All he wanted was to leave this place, because the strawberries in his inventory were running low... Meanwhile, out at sea...
A pirate flag bearing what looked like a cow's skull hung from the mast of a sailing ship.
"Captain! There's an island up ahead!"
The captain pulled out a spyglass to take a look, then drew a chart from inside his coat and burst into wild laughter. "Hahahahahahaha! Boys, we're here! Full speed ahead! Come ashore with me and find that treasure!"
"Yeah!" the dozen or so pirates aboard shouted back.
"Captain! We're here! We're here!" As the ship reached the shore, Captain York vaulted out of his cabin, spread his arms, and shouted, "Boys, we've reached our destination! What should we do now?" "Dance! Sing!" York shouted again, "What are we?"
"We're free pirates! Hahahaha!"
Just then, a sleazy-looking middle-aged man with an afro emerged from belowdecks. Chuckling strangely, he began playing his violin. "Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho..."
"Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho..." The pirates below began humming along to Brook's rhythm.
Raise a cup of Binks' Sake, through the wind and rain and towering waves; beneath clear skies, my favorite flag flies high.
Together we gaze into the distance, longing for that view; birds wheel through the sky, chasing the setting sun.
Leaving the familiar harbor, it's my hometown I miss most; how unforgettable those childhood days, singing a lilting song together.
This frail body is filled with dreams; as a man, I'll roam wherever I please, to the ends of the earth.
Raise a cup of Binks' Sake, with friends here by our side; out upon the sea, you and I chase hope.
The waves lull me into dreams; our ship is home, our shelter from the storm.
The skull flag fluttering in the wind gives me strength.
We open a new chapter of this age, each pursuing our own dream.
The beating drums ring out through every corner of sea and sky.
However fierce the wind and waves, we'll forge ahead bravely, without hesitation.
That's how a man should live, making every moment count.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Raise a cup of Binks' Sake, alone at midnight.
Drunk, I relive the days gone by in dreams.
Always there beside me, like the bright moonlight.
Spilling across the sea on another lovely night.
Raise a cup of Binks' Sake, let the music play again.
Cast everything aside and sing the song of the sea together at the top of our lungs.
What does it matter if the road is long? What do hardships and setbacks matter?
We've got drink, we've got friends; we'll revel till the dawn.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho.
On the nearby shore, Qiu Haisheng had been sleeping in the sun when the noise woke him. He sat up, propping his head on one hand.
"What's all that racket? So annoying!" He shook his head.
"Huh! People? Someone's here! Hahahahaha!" Qiu Haisheng sprang to his feet and ran toward the sound.
"Yo-ho-ho... Huh? Captain, someone's running toward our ship!" Brook nudged York, who pulled his head out of a barrel of liquor and looked in the direction Brook was pointing.
"What? You're right! Boys! We've got a guest!" York shouted again. The pirates stopped singing and spotted Qiu Haisheng sprinting toward them. York planted one foot on the ship's rail and called down to him.
"Kid, what are you here for?" Qiu Haisheng "looked" up with his hollow eyes, an irrepressible smile spreading across his face. York noticed his eyes.
They're unfocused...
"Kid, what's your name?"
Qiu Haisheng replied, "My name's Barn! The ship I was on was wrecked at sea. I was the only survivor, and I drifted onto this deserted island. Could you save me?" Barn's face was full of hope.
