A Marine with a completely bald crown but unusually thick hair on either side held a cup of coffee, stuck out his tongue, and complained.

He was Comil, one of the Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals. With two long swords strapped to his waist, he hardly looked like a friendly, approachable man.

Across from Comil sat a bearded man with a thick cigar clenched between his teeth. A smile never left his face, and even his already small eyes were hidden in its creases. Hearing Comil's complaint, he raised his own cup, took a sip, and said,

"I think it tastes great. This isn't like you, Comil. Didn't you always say Headquarters had the best coffee?"

Like Comil, this man was a Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral: Yamakaji, a man held up as a role model within the Marines.

At Yamakaji's words, Comil lifted his head slightly and glanced at him, then took another sip of his coffee.

"Still tastes awful... I should tell the cooks at Headquarters to add some milk to the coffee too."

"Then I wouldn't like it anymore."

Another man seated beside Yamakaji spoke up. Despite the table full of delicacies, the utensils in front of him remained untouched. He apparently had little appetite.

"Onigumo, it's because you're sitting across from me that this coffee tastes bitter."

Comil had never gotten along with Onigumo, and hearing him speak only prompted Comil to snap back.

"Enough! What kind of manners are those, shouting at the dinner table?"

As Comil and Onigumo bickered, a booming voice rang out. It belonged to John Giant, a Giant seated at the far end of the table and another Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral.

After hearing John Giant, neither Onigumo nor Comil
