The pirates and Marines who had been fighting fiercely on the ice immediately dropped their weapons and raced toward the square when they saw the island looming overhead.
Were they kidding? With an island that size coming down and solid ice beneath their feet, they would be crushed into meat patties!
Once everyone on the ice had escaped onto land, the gigantic island falling from the sky finally made intimate contact with the thick ice!
The seemingly indestructible ice shattered under the island's terrifying weight. Vast quantities of seawater surged through the cracks, swirling around the gigantic island.
With a force even greater than the meteorite's earlier plunge into the sea, an enormous wave surged outward from beneath the island as the ice shattered. Some pirates and Marines who had only just climbed onto the square were swept away again, disappearing into the crevice where the square met the island. Not a sound came from them, not even a single bubble.
The enormous waves also swept through the waters surrounding Mary Geoise. The massive Moby Dick pitched wildly amid the terrifying swells. Whitebeard reversed his grip on his great blade and slammed its cloth-wrapped end against the ship, barely managing to steady the storm-tossed Moby Dick.
With Whitebeard aboard, the Moby Dick escaped disaster, but the pirate ships under his command were not so fortunate. The Ice Witch, who had always taken pride in his icebreaker, watched his once-unstoppable ship crumble beneath the island's crushing weight. His eyes went blank, and despair filled his face.
The battle had undergone another enormous change. The crescent-shaped bay of Mary Geoise had been completely filled by the island Golden Lion had summoned, and all of Mary Geoise
