Disbelief was written all over Beyo Jack's face. His eyes were filled with a sense of unfamiliarity, as though the man who had just spoken to him wasn't World at all...
And that was indeed the case. The World standing before Beyo Jack now was no longer the World of ten years ago...
If World's earlier words had been a hand squeezing Beyo Jack's fragile heart, then what he said next crushed it completely...
"What a joke. The ship and the cannon are nothing but tools."
A cold sneer hung on World's face.
"I don't know what you people want, but I made up my mind the moment I escaped from Impel Down."
"Then you showed up there, bringing this ship with you."
World looked around the Grosser before continuing.
"So I decided right then to use this ship to achieve my goal!"
"Everything fell into place perfectly."
World wore the smile of a man whose scheme had succeeded, but it chilled Beyo Jack to the bone. Even now, Beyo Jack still clung to a shred of hope as he asked,
"Is your goal to take revenge on the World Government?"
Beyo Jack's voice held anger, disappointment, and the pain of being used by a comrade...
He shouted his questions at the top of his lungs, roaring.
But World didn't answer him directly. Instead, he regarded Beyo Jack coldly and said,
"As far as I'm concerned, I don't care what happens to this ship-or to any of you!"
"Then... then what about Gairam, Nanting, Sebastian, and everyone else? Aren't they your comrades?"
World's words had already shattered Beyo Jack's heart, but he still wanted to ask one last time, even if the answer only hurt him more...
"Comrades? I never trusted you or any of them from the start!"
