Sasuke ranks near the top of his Academy class in every subject. After Zhou Cheng defeats Neji, Sasuke challenges his standing, only to be told that he could not withstand even a B-rank Water Dragon Bullet Technique. At this point, Sasuke is stronger than Naruto but markedly weaker than Zhou Cheng 32.

He trains alone in the surviving Uchiha clan grounds, practicing shuriken, taijutsu, and ninjutsu until his chakra is exhausted. He regards defeating Zhou Cheng as a measure of whether he has gained enough power to kill Itachi 34.
