With a deafening burst of smoke, everyone present took a step back in shock at the sight before them.
A dense throng of shadow clones appeared out of thin air around Toru Kujyo, instantly filling the entire street. At a rough count, there were at least two hundred! Every clone looked exactly like the original, right down to that lazy gaze with its hidden edge.
"Hey, hey, hey..." Naruto's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "Th-that many?!"
"No!" Shikamaru's expression changed completely, an almost imperceptible tremor in his voice. "This isn't the ordinary Shadow Clone Technique! It's... the forbidden technique recorded in the scroll!"
One of Toru Kujyo's shadow clones leaned toward Shikamaru and patted his shoulder with a grin. "Oh, you've got a good eye. Just what I'd expect from a Nara Clan kid."
Another shadow clone walked up to Naruto and spoke in a slightly troubled tone. "Sigh, I can't help it. I have too much chakra. If I don't burn some off this way, my whole body feels uncomfortably swollen. Controlling two hundred clones while they work is actually a real drag too. Right, Shikamaru?"
That humblebrag instantly lit a fire under every hot-blooded boy present.
