Inside the church, Miss Puppet stood behind Yog like the most devout of nuns.
Yog held a book in his hands. Unlike the chaos power he usually drew out, this time he extracted wisps of blended power from its pages. Unlike chaos power, each wisp contained a complex mixture of components, yet all of them came from the same being.
Yog murmured,
"Life, immortality, darkness, desire, corruption... Shub, is it? Interesting..."
Then Yog mused,
"Nyarlathotep's meddling again? Never learns..."
Even before Yog spoke, Miss Puppet had become utterly motionless, like a real puppet, without so much as a glimmer in her eyes.
Clearly, Yog did not want Miss Puppet to hear any of this. As the Supreme Mother Goddess, Shub counted life among her authorities. Every living being was a part of Shub-or rather, could become a part of her.
Like Yog, Shub was an ultimate being whose ultimate scope transcended all logic and thought. Her immense power was beyond comparison with that of the other Outer Gods. Within the domain of Shub's own authorities, even Yog, who allowed the very concept of "existence" to exist, could not claim to hold a decisive advantage over her.
Unlike Nyarlathotep, whose devious and troublesome nature hardly concerned Yog because almost every little move was visible to him, Shub gave even Yog something of a headache through her sheer power alone.
The twin authorities of life and immortality placed Shub in an almost inherently invincible position. Even Ubbo-Sathla, known as the Ultimate Ancestral God and the Source Without Source, ranked below Shub in the authority of life.
Yog chuckled.
"Shub has appeared too. Looks like things are getting interesting..."
