While Cheng Yu happened upon Dermot, the eyeball-and-tentacle monster who was a major story NPC, the other players in this game of finding the God Emperor seemed to have made some unusual discoveries of their own.
In a park steeped in everything twisted, bloody, and vile, a young man crushed a monster wearing an armband to death. Around him lay the bodies of several smaller monsters, seemingly this world's children.
After crushing the armband-wearing monster, the young man walked over to a park bench. Someone who looked exactly like Reward Bro was dozing on it, seemingly sensing the young man's approach.
Reward Bro yawned and said,
"Oh, Grete. How did it go? Find anything?"
The young man shook his head slightly.
"No. No matter what method I use, whenever I try to read the information in those monsters' memories, all I get is a jumble of incoherent messages. Most of it is just meaningless howling."
Reward Bro, otherwise known as Belial, showed no concern whatsoever over what Grete described. He merely spread his hands.
"Is that so? It seems this God Emperor really is a powerful being. Still, we did learn something."
Grete asked in puzzlement,
"Such as?"
Belial gave a languid smile.
"Do you know why I told you to target only the males?"
Grete shook his head.
Belial raised one finger and said,
"First, the monsters in this world still distinguish between male and female."
Grete frowned, seemingly unsure what significance that held. Belial raised a second finger.
"Second, that God Emperor called me a gentleman who smelled of sulfur. In other words, he still uses the most primitive method of judging gender: appearance."
At this, Grete seemed to grasp something. Belial raised a third finger.
"Third, when I addressed him as Mr. God Emperor, he didn't object.
