"Gramps, I want to go out to sea too!" Luffy, who had been looking listless behind him, suddenly shouted.
"You brat! You should be studying, not going out to sea!" Garp punched Luffy on the head out of habit.
"Ow, ow... ow!" Luffy clutched his head and gave Garp a resentful look. "Keep hitting me like that, and I'll tell my teacher to pay you a home visit."
Garp stiffened. "Hahaha! That was my fist of love, not child abuse."
Luffy stared at Garp with wide eyes, then took off his straw hat, revealing a red lump rapidly swelling on his head. "Do you think my teacher will believe that when she sees this?"
"Ha... haha..." Garp's mouth twitched. "All right! I'll buy you whatever you want to eat later. Just don't tell your teacher!" Panic stirred in his chest, and he hurried to soothe Luffy. These days, he was especially afraid of home visits from the Holy Church's teachers. He still remembered the last time he had disciplined his two adorable grandsons and that female teacher had found out. She had come over with a smile and lectured him endlessly, from noon until night. Even the next day, she hadn't let him off. He couldn't beat her in a fight, so what else could he do? He could only smile meekly and sit there listening like a chastened child.
"Hmph! That's more like it!" Luffy grinned and raced straight to the little shop in the distance, clearing out more than half its snacks in one go.
Garp's face turned green at the sight. He didn't have a job anymore, after all, and was living entirely off his retirement savings.
Still, there was nothing he could do. Looks like it's time to find a job, Garp thought.
"Vice Admiral Garp!"
