"Sasuke! Are you all right?" The Uchiha clansmen who had rushed over saw Sasuke lying weakly on the ground and hurried to help him up.
"I'm fine! Just a little drained!" Sasuke said weakly.
"Who's there!" Suddenly, one of the Holy Light Clerics shouted sharply toward the tower.
The other Holy Light Clerics drew their weapons and went on guard, their golden, three-tomoe Sharingan staring fixedly into the shadows beneath the tower.
"Don't! Don't be nervous. I'm not your enemy." A hoarse voice rang out, and a figure in a black coat stepped out, the flesh on his face withered.
"I'm Khadgar. I used to be a mage. Please save me. I never wanted to become like this." Khadgar all but pleaded with the Holy Light Clerics. Looking at his master, Medivh, lying unconscious nearby, a flicker of hope kindled in Khadgar's terrified soul fire.
"That's the scent of hope. Looks like he isn't lying," one of the Holy Light Clerics said to a companion.
"Stand there and don't move for now. Once we've dealt with things here, we'll take you back for treatment. The curse on you isn't a major problem. Don't worry. The Holy Church has several ways to cure you."
"Really?" Khadgar's previously still emotions surged with excitement. "All right! All right! I'll wait for you!" With that, Khadgar stood in the shadows, not daring to move a single step. He had seen perfectly clearly how his utterly evil master had ended up like this. There was no questioning the strength of these people.
The Holy Light Clerics paid Khadgar no further attention, though they still assigned two people to keep watch. They couldn't act entirely on their own perceptions. The emotions of any intelligent being changed constantly; there were plenty who were utterly sincere one moment
