Amid the ruins of Quel'Thalas, Kael'thas stared blankly at the Sun King, who had become a lich and now stood bound by the Holy Church.
"Father, why?"
The Sun King kept his head lowered, unable to look at his son. Only after a long while did he raise his withered face. "Kael'thas, I have disappointed you. As you can see, all of this was my own choice. Rather than simply die of old age, I chose eternal life."
The Sun King's indifferent words filled Kael'thas with utter disappointment. His legs went weak, and he nearly fell, but Alleria, standing behind him, reacted quickly and caught him.
His hair hung in disarray, and the pride in Kael'thas's heart had undoubtedly been shattered. "Father, why didn't you choose to die in battle? At least then, you would still be the wise and great Sun King in my heart, and I could take pride in having such a father. Perhaps I would have been heartbroken and grieved, but at least I could have lived on with your glory.
"But now?" Kael'thas abruptly straightened and looked up at the Sun King, tears welling in his eyes. It was impossible to tell whether his reddened eyes held sorrow or hatred. "Now I will bear your shame forever and spend my long years living amid our people's curses. You-you destroyed the Sun King's glory!" By the end, Kael'thas was all but shouting.
"Look at what you've become! What shred of honor do you have left, you wretched lich?" With that, Kael'thas suddenly drew the sword at his waist and thrust it into the Sun King's chest.
The Windrunner Sisters watched in shock, yet the Holy Light Clerics standing guard nearby did not move a muscle. These creatures should have been eliminated immediately in the first place.
