Chapters 376–384 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 376The Burning Legion Arrives

Nozdormu warned Alexstrasza that Azeroth’s branching timelines would weaken its world-soul, but she chose to accept the change and focus on protecting the world’s inhabitants. A powerful evil presence then erupted in Quel'Thalas, and Ria hurried back with the Holy Light clerics to confront the attack.

  • Nozdormu found Alexstrasza and explained that Azeroth’s river of time had branched, slowing the world-soul’s awakening and dividing the world into parallel timelines.
  • Alexstrasza told Nozdormu that she would accept the consequences and urged him not to interfere with the altered space-time.
  • A powerful evil presence erupted in Quel'Thalas, alarming Nozdormu and the powerful figures across Azeroth.
  • The Holy Church headquarters told the cleric aboard Flying Shuttle number 1237 that the Sun King had sealed Quel'Thalas’s border a day before the disaster and that the Church was mobilizing forces.
  • Ria received news of the attack while leaving the Old Gods’ dimension and returned with the Holy Light clerics to face the enemy.

Ch. 377The first clash of light and darkness

Archimonde’s Burning Legion emerged through the corrupted Well of Eternity, and he killed Arthas before leading the invasion of Quel'Thalas. Holy Church weapons devastated the demons, but Archimonde raised a demonic domain and advanced on the Holy Light Clerics Legion, launching an attack.

  • Archimonde mocked Arthas, then struck him down when the Holy Church’s bombardment began.
  • Archimonde beheaded Arthas, who regretted his past and called out to his father before dying.
  • The Burning Legion poured into Quel'Thalas, where Holy Light shells and a massive purification blast destroyed the demons and undead across the city.
  • Archimonde spread his demonic domain to suppress the sacred light and led his forces toward the Holy Light Clerics Legion.
  • Archimonde sent a cloud of tormented spirits toward the clerics as the demon legions charged.

Ch. 378Archimonde's terror

Archimonde’s curses and assaults overwhelmed the Holy Light Clerics Legion, but its armor kept the fallen clerics alive and unharmed by ordinary demons. Faced with thousands of nearly indestructible soldiers, Archimonde began to fear what it would take to defeat them.

  • The Holy Light Clerics Commander ordered the legion to fire through Archimonde’s curse, and a Super Purifying Holy Light Bullet dispelled the Vengeful Spirit Curse.
  • The Holy Light Clerics combined their forces into three Giants of Light, which burned and cut down the skeletal wraiths.
  • Archimonde intensified his curse and unleashed green-flamed meteors, shattering the Giants of Light and knocking the clerics to the ground.
  • The demons’ weapons failed to penetrate the fallen clerics’ armor, so Archimonde struck one himself and cracked its visor without killing the soldier.
  • Archimonde saw thousands of fallen clerics still alive and wondered how he could invade Azeroth while they remained so difficult to kill.

Ch. 379The demon lords' terror

Ria arrived on the battlefield, subdued Archimonde, and turned the demons’ Void Gate into a holy gateway. The demon lords fled, while Ria and the Legion Commanders prepared to occupy the void and track down the power behind the invasion.

  • Archimonde stopped his demons from retreating, but Ria appeared and restored the Holy Light Clerics before ordering them to stand down.
  • Ria seized Archimonde, burned him with a white flame, and terrified the demon lords through their soul links.
  • Kil'jaeden and the demon lords rushed to destroy the Void Gate, but the Legion Commanders took control of it and emerged through its golden light.
  • The demon lords attacked the gate without destroying it, then fled when one of them vanished as he called for an attack.
  • Ria passed through the gate, found the hall deserted, and told the Legion Commanders to wait for the main force and prepare to track the hidden enemy.

Ch. 380Prelude to the Counteroffensive into the Void

After Kael'thas killed his father, the lich Sun King, the Windrunner Sisters urged him to lead Quel'Thalas and join the Holy Church. Meanwhile, Nozdormu and Alexstrasza learned that the Holy Church was entering the Void, where it was preparing a counteroffensive against the demons.

  • Kael'thas confronted the Sun King over his choice to become a lich, then stabbed him as his father urged him to reclaim the Sun King's glory.
  • Sylvanas challenged Kael'thas to lead Quel'Thalas, and Alleria reassured him that the Windrunner Sisters still trusted him.
  • Alleria suggested that the weakened high elves join the Holy Church, and Kael'thas accepted that it was their only way forward.
  • Nozdormu and Alexstrasza arrived over Quel'Thalas and saw Holy Church troops clearing the battlefield and marching toward the Well of Eternity.
  • At the Well of Eternity, a Holy Light Cleric confirmed to Aegwynn, Alexstrasza, and the gathered leaders that the Holy Church was entering the Void.
  • The Holy Light Cleric said the Church was securing a bridgehead and might allow auxiliary forces to join after the front line stabilized.

Ch. 381Counterattack into the Void 1

The Holy Church’s Holy Light Clerics crushed the Burning Legion on the Void Front, driving a few terrified demons toward a distant defensive wall. As the demons swarmed the wall to escape, arrows from the darkness shredded them, leaving the Holy Light Warriors and Naaru uncertain what was approaching.

  • Tens of thousands of Holy Knights and Holy Light Clerics advanced through the Burning Legion, while white mechs blocked fleeing demons and ten sunlike figures searched for demon lords.
  • Powerful demons used weaker demons as shields to flee through gaps in the Holy Church’s artillery bombardment, and a handful escaped into the void.
  • Seven Naaru noticed that the defenses guarding a rift to the Main Material World faced an unusual silence and suspected that demons had found another rift.
  • Terrified demons rushed toward the defensive wall and scrambled over it, putting the Holy Light Warriors under heavy pressure.
  • Countless arrows swept from the darkness and shredded the demons attacking the wall, while the Naaru wondered whether the approaching force was friend or foe.

Ch. 382The Naaru join

The Holy Light Clerics Legion rescued the Naaru from the demon assault, and Axel brought the seven beings to meet Ria and Li Ming. Transformed into winged Light Spirits, the Naaru chose to go to Li Ming’s Divine Kingdom after he assured them the warriors who believed in them would be welcomed by the Holy Church.

  • The Holy Light Clerics Legion slaughtered the demons as the Naaru and Holy Light Warriors watched, then assembled in disciplined ranks.
  • Axel met the seven Naaru, invited them to learn about the true holy light, and led them through the Void Gate to the Holy City.
  • Ria greeted the Naaru and brought them into the starscape where Li Ming welcomed them as his children.
  • Li Ming transformed the Naaru into seven golden Light Spirits with six pairs of wings.
  • The Naaru chose to go to Li Ming’s Divine Kingdom after he promised that the Holy Church would welcome their followers.

Ch. 383The world's end

Li Ming reunited with Ria, absorbed the fleeing Old Gods, and returned to human form before confronting the Void Lord. After revealing his true power, Li Ming devoured the Void Lord and left the remnant consciousness trapped inside him.

  • Ria gave Li Ming five Old Gods as snacks, and Li Ming thanked her for her unwavering faith and companionship.
  • Li Ming dragged the fleeing Old Gods into a black hole, absorbed them, and regained a human body.
  • The Void Lord recalled how he had betrayed Light, taken control of the void, and created the Old Gods to consume Light’s remaining power.
  • Li Ming appeared before the Void Lord, who dismissed him as too weak to pose a threat.
  • Li Ming expanded into a vast ball of light and devoured the Void Lord, trapping his remaining consciousness inside his stomach.

Ch. 384Side story: Azeroth's happy ending

Pope Ria established the Azeroth Republic Federation, ushering Azeroth into an age of peace and interstellar expansion under the Holy Church. Centuries later, teacher Auremituo took students to the Homeworld and explained how Holy Power had changed the races and how the Republic belonged to a multiversal civilization.

  • Ria declared the establishment of the Azeroth Republic Federation, and the gathered races celebrated the start of a new era of peace.
  • Auremituo taught students aboard a spaceship about Azeroth's history and the Republic's expansion into the interstellar age.
  • Muradin Iron Hammer argued that he was an orc and teased Germana, who became upset when her classmates doubted her ancestry.
  • Auremituo confirmed that Germana's ancestors were orcs and explained that Holy Power had gradually changed the appearances of Azeroth's nonhuman races.
  • Mana explained that the Azeroth Republic was an interstellar civilization affiliated with the Holy Church, a multiversal civilization.
