Thick stacks of documents sat on the desk. River walked over and skimmed through them; most contained good news from the kingdom's army.
This was nothing they had not expected, and he remained calm.
With the pirate world proceeding according to the plan he had laid out, unifying the entire world was only a matter of time.
For now, he was more concerned with everything happening in the Naruto World.
"Sir, where have you been all this time?"
Freya asked curiously.
"A completely unfamiliar world. A very interesting one."
River smiled as he spoke.
"An unfamiliar world?"
Freya paused, not quite understanding what he meant.
But River offered no explanation. Instead, he sat down and pondered for a moment before finally asking, "What has Doflamingo been doing lately?"
"Doffy? He's had plenty of free time lately. He spends most of it hanging around those people at the Research Institute."
Freya answered with a smile.
"Is that so?"
"Have him come see me. I have a task for him."
River smiled.
After mentally running through the people in his kingdom, he concluded that if he wanted to take a few people to the Naruto World to establish a foothold, Fujitora Issho, Donquixote Doflamingo, and Crocodile were undoubtedly the best candidates.
Unlike the pirate world, the Naruto World called for people who were steady, shrewd, and calculating. They also could not afford to be merciful.
That ruled out Fujitora Issho. Although he was certainly steady enough, he had a strong sense of justice.
Doflamingo, on the other hand, was the ideal choice.
He was full of schemes and ruthless in his methods, yet obeyed River without question and held him in awe. In another world, he would also be the most likely to survive and prove useful to him.
