In fact, before he had transmigrated here, the original Muzan had tried just about everything.

So, having inherited those memories, Muzan walked into Aoya as though he knew the place by heart.

When the madam hurried over, he pulled out a handful of money without another word.

"Bring me the oiran."

The madam took the money, her face instantly lighting up. She fawned over him with a few eager replies, then rushed off to fetch Koyuki.

She had known that little girl was a gold mine!

Already drawing so much attention at such a young age-wouldn't she make a fortune once the girl grew up?

Muzan and Doma were shown into separate rooms. Doma left the young girl he had been given off to one side, then left his room to find Muzan again.

I can't even eat her. Why keep her around?

Watching Doma come bounding in, Muzan truly lost his patience.

If you have nothing better to do, could you at least stop following me?

Seeing Lord Muzan's somewhat dark expression, Doma shamelessly barged in and sat down on the tatami without invitation. Smiling at Muzan across from him, he asked, "Lord Muzan, why do you look so unhappy~?"

"Phew-"

Once Doma finished speaking, Muzan let out a long breath. His gloomy expression slowly changed into a smile just as fake as Doma's. He stood, walked over to him, and picked him up without a word.

Doma: "???"

He opened the window and hurled Doma through it with all his strength, sending him flying far into the distance.

Doma: "!!!"

"Lord Muzan-!!!"

"Ah, much better!"

Muzan watched Doma's figure recede into the sky and vanish over the horizon along with the setting sun. A genuinely satisfied smile spread across his face, and he settled comfortably back onto the tatami.

With people like Doma and Chiyu, he couldn't afford to be nice. Otherwise, they would push their luck and buzz around him endlessly.

Soon, the madam brought Koyuki in. "This gentleman specifically asked for you. Serve him properly, and don't spoil his fun."

Koyuki stood before Muzan without expression, a hint of displeasure in her eyes.

If not for this man, she could have spent a little longer with her brother.

Seeing her expression, the madam could only offer an apologetic smile. "She's always like this, sir. Please don't take offense."

Muzan said nothing. Instead, he stood, walked over to Koyuki, and stroked her head.

Feels nice.

Koyuki let him pat her head, her expression cold.

Muzan smiled and crouched down to look at her. "How about I adopt you?"

Koyuki: "?"

All her previous customers had come only for her beauty. Besides, as an oiran, she wouldn't be easy to buy out.

She looked into Muzan's eyes and found none of the ugly desire she saw in those customers.

"No," Koyuki refused outright, wanting only to get this over with.

The madam was unhappy as well. "Sir, this girl is our oiran..."

Muzan glanced at her, then turned back to Koyuki, stroking her snow-white hair.

"Your brother too. I'll adopt both of you. You won't have to go hungry or be bullied anymore. What do you think?"

Though ten-year-old Koyuki always wore a cold expression under Gyutaro's guidance, she was still just an innocent little girl.

Having grown up without enough food or warm clothing, she found Muzan's offer incredibly tempting.

And she could stay with her brother.

Koyuki's expression softened a little despite herself. "I want to ask my brother."

"Sure. Come on, let's go find him."

Muzan stood, and the madam hastily spoke up beside him. "Sir, this really isn't appropriate..."

As she spoke, she quickly blocked Koyuki, who was about to lead Muzan to Gyutaro, and roughly grabbed her wrist.

As a wealthy Demon King with numerous demons under his command, Muzan produced a sum of money that made the madam's eyes go wide.

The magic of money made her release Koyuki at once. Her displeasure instantly turned into delighted flattery. "Sir, I'll take you to her brother right away."

"What about her indenture contract?"

Muzan looked at her.

She doesn't think all this money is a tip, does she?

It's to buy her freedom.

Being rich didn't mean he would throw money away. Besides, Muzan had no desire to pay extra to someone like the madam, who cared about money more than human lives.

"I'll fetch it right away!"

The madam ran upstairs to get the contract. Muzan looked down at Koyuki. "Let's go."

Koyuki nodded and found Gyutaro, who had already left and was stalking down the street with a sickle in hand.

Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, Gyutaro tightened his grip on his sickle and turned viciously. But when he saw Koyuki, his expression softened at once, and he went over to her.

Noticing Muzan beside Koyuki, he watched him warily, his eyes full of hostility.

"Brother, he wants to adopt both of us."

Koyuki pointed at Muzan and told Gyutaro with a happy smile.

Gyutaro eyed Muzan up and down suspiciously.

What's this guy after?

"What do you want?"

He gripped his sickle and glared at Muzan.

Muzan didn't mind his attitude. After all, surviving had been so difficult, and the malice surrounding them forced them to be wary of everything.

He smiled down at the filthy Gyutaro.

"I want to adopt you. Then you can eat whatever you like, wear nice clothes, and never have to worry about being bullied."

Though Gyutaro wanted to give Koyuki a happy life, he clearly didn't trust a stranger. He grabbed Koyuki and pulled her behind him.

Muzan's smiling face, coupled with the fact that he looked like someone born into a happy life, irritated him immensely.

"You bastard! We don't need you!"

Muzan sighed.

"So you want your sister serving people at Aoya when she's only ten? And then, one day, getting bullied by some nasty bastard?

"Don't you want your sister to have a happy life starting now?"

Gyutaro ground his teeth and forced out a vicious reply. "You bastard!"

Though Koyuki didn't quite understand why her brother was acting this way, seeing that the man before them had upset him made her change her attitude too. She hid behind Gyutaro and glared at Muzan.

Muzan: "..."

You two really are something!

But clearly, despite his irritation, Muzan had touched on what Gyutaro cared about most. He wanted his sister to live happily, not be bullied in a disgusting place like the pleasure district.

Besides, this man looked weak. Even if they were adopted, if he dared bully Koyuki, Gyutaro would kill him!

I'll protect Koyuki no matter what!

"We'll go with you! But if you dare bully Koyuki, you're dead!"

Delighted, Muzan replied, "All right, come on. I'll take you to have a bath and buy some new clothes."

Muzan slipped into the role of a father with practiced ease.

Under Gyutaro's irritated gaze, he contentedly stroked the boy's black-and-gray hair.

It was messy and a little dirty, not as pleasant to touch as Koyuki's, but it would surely feel nice once it was clean.

Gyutaro struggled a few times, shielded his head, and glared fiercely at Muzan.

"Don't touch me!"

"All right, all right. I won't."

As Muzan said that, he kept stroking his head.

Gyutaro struggled a few more times but couldn't get free.

"You're filthy. You need a good wash, and then I'll buy you some new clothes. No more running around with your chest bare..."
