"I... how long was I asleep after I passed out?" Cheng Mingrui asked, rubbing his head. He felt as though his soul had changed somehow, with something he couldn't quite explain added to its core.
Clever Git, Kidd, and Big Blade exchanged a few bewildered looks. Finally, Clever Git stepped forward and spoke.
"Boss... we don't know either. Nobody usually keeps track of time. Anyway, it was a good long while. After we smashed that C'tan Shard that day, you just kept sleeping. Some of the boyz said you'd sleep yourself to death and never wake up."
"I didn't believe 'em, so I took the boyz to find a Painboy. We found several, but some of 'em were too crazy. I didn't dare let 'em treat you."
Clever Git pushed Big Blade forward. "Him. He's the one who cured you, Boss. He said, 'Give me a dozen days or so, and I'll definitely wake the Boss up,' so you were asleep for at least a dozen days."
One look from Cheng Mingrui sent Big Blade straight to his knees. He even handed over the Teef Clever Git had given him. The Boss's gaze was so terrifying, so intimidating, that he couldn't help confessing in the hope of leniency.
"Boss, I'll confess! I didn't do anything! I'm just an ordinary Painboy! I just wanted to earn some Teef..." Big Blade babbled on, trembling.
Beside him, Kidd and Clever Git stared wide-eyed. Kidd was getting angry, and he was already loading his Shoota.
