Both the Matter Generator and Boss Slick turned green—a vibrant, life-filled green.
The Orks near the Matter Generator were enveloped in the green light as well. They were not machines, but they too felt their bodies fill with strength.
The entire Matter Generator began to recover, its damaged sections growing back bit by bit like a plant. All those rare materials grew back without the slightest deviation.
At this rate, the Matter Generator would be fully repaired in less than a day.
Then the Ork Boyz could thoroughly pulverize the World Devourer's corpse and feed it into the Matter Generator, turning old matter into new. Even if the Tyranids really had planted some sort of trap in the corpse, it would be rendered useless.
By that reckoning, the Tyranids' damage to the Matter Generator had barely dented the Screw Clan's production capacity. Instead, they had handed over several million tonnes of matter. They had lost out spectacularly.
If the Humies had seen such a phenomenon, especially the faithful of the Adeptus Mechanicus, they would surely have cried out to the Omnissiah, along with a torrent of prayers of praise. The Orks were far less varied. It was all "Boss Slick is badass!" and "Boss Slick is dead 'ard!"
In the eyes of every Ork, Boss Slick was gradually becoming not only invincible, but capable of anything.
As time passed, the planets of the Octaria System continued along their orbits. Ork IV was gradually drawing closer to Ork V.
The Great Devourer had transformed Planet Four into a fortress world, its surface densely packed with Spore Towers boasting formidable long-range firepower.
When the fourth and fifth planets came closest to one another, Planet Four could serve as a forward base, giving the Great Devourer a staging point from which to launch
