"Just watch, Boss Slick!" Piloting his enlarged Dio warship, Dio was thrilled. Boss Slick had practically built him a brand-new warship, and he still had control of it. He even got to pull the trigger for this shot.
Boss Slick really was a great boss!
The Dio Cannon's firing lever had become very heavy. Boss Slick had deliberately made it that heavy during the modifications. He felt that such destructive power ought to be wielded by a strong arm.
Dio struggled to push the lever, too. Still, he was a Big Mek. Even if he was not particularly big, he could move it.
The pitch-black Dio Cannon held an unprecedented concentration of energy, as though a star were exploding inside its barrel.
Golden energy plunged into Ork IV's magma layer like a golden spear.
The scorching magma boiled even more violently, spreading outward from the golden energy beam. Arcs of magma splashed tens of thousands of meters into the air, as spectacular as blood spraying from the planet.
Ten minutes later, the mantle had been completely pierced, and Ork IV had shriveled as well. The Dio Cannon's energy beam kept firing, reaching all the way to the planet's core.
The planet's core was a flow of molten metal, with temperatures reaching thousands of degrees. It was a death zone for any living creature-except a World Devourer.
The Planetary World Devourer had hidden its head inside, manipulating gravity to propel Ork IV.
Logically, the Orks would have struggled to blast through the crust and mantle quickly, leaving the World Devourer ample time to complete its mission.
But Orks never followed logic. The Dio Cannon's sustained beam had taken only a little over twenty minutes to reach this place. The World Devourer's protection had proved so fragile.
Against the molten planetary core,
