"Orks?!" Jaghatai exclaimed.
What were Orks doing in the Webway? Wasn't the Webway unsuitable for their growth?
Over in Commorragh, they captured Ork slaves without a care, and often hung Orks and Gretchin outside their buildings like cabbages.
Given how Orks normally worked, that was practically suicide. They were helping the Orks spread.
Yet after all this time, Commorragh still belonged to the Drukhari. There were rumors that Orks had overrun the space beneath the city, but those were clearly lies.
If Orks could reproduce there without trouble, Commorragh would either have no further need for slaves, since they could simply catch more beneath the city whenever they ran short, or it would have been overwhelmed by sheer Ork numbers and become an Ork city in the Webway.
So... where had these Orks attacking the Duke of Shadow Blades come from? Had the Orks launched an organized invasion of the Webway? That was a first.
"So, you want me to help you resist the Ork invasion?" Jaghatai asked, gloating as he watched the Drukhari retreat again and again on the screen.
"Why should I help a xenos? Especially one who has trapped me for thousands of years and launched countless assassination attempts, attacks, and ambushes to kill me." Jaghatai refused outright.
"Of course. I knew that little bit of information wouldn't convince you." The Duke of Shadow Blades showed no anger. Instead, he opened more Holographic Projections and explained.
"These aren't ordinary Orks. They've evolved. No, they've reverted to an ancestral form. They're closer to their ancestors-the Krork Orks. The Imperium of Man you love and protect is being devoured by them. They've already occupied a fifth of the vast Ultima Segmentum."
"!" Jaghatai was stunned. The Ultima Segmentum was immense. If the Orks' territory had already grown that large...
