Fourth Master Gray first squeaked twice at the black-gold toad, then squeaked at Luo Bin, saying, "Xiao Luo, you'd better listen to Little Toad. If it's making such a creepy racket, something unnatural must be following you."
Luo Bin drew a deep breath and slowly let it out.
His gaze still swept carefully over everything within sight, but he really found nothing.
The black-gold toad croaked for several minutes.
Suddenly, it stopped, turned around, opened its mouth, and shot out its tongue!
With a smack, its tongue stuck to a pitch-black scorpion beside one of the holes. It reeled its tongue back in, swallowed the scorpion, and crunched away.
Luo Bin turned around as well. The goose bumps from before had yet to fade, and now even more rose across his skin!
Scorpions kept crawling out of the holes that had reappeared. They weren't gu, just ordinary venomous scorpions!
Their upturned, hooked stingers were exceptionally sharp. There were so many, packed so densely together, that every hair on his body stood on end.
The sheer number of closely packed holes was unsettling enough. These scorpions only added to the oppressive terror.
There was also a hole directly in front of Luo Bin, and the scorpions emerging from it swarmed toward him.
The black-gold toad ate several in succession, but how could it keep up with the speed at which they emerged?
The swarm was almost at Luo Bin's feet!
Some even climbed onto the Cinnabar Tortoise shell on the black-gold toad's back, hammering their stingers against it in a dense clatter!
Others tried to attack its head and feet, but it twisted and kicked, knocking them away.
