The summit looked strange, like a head-but definitely not a human head. It resembled a beast's head, yet on closer inspection, it looked like no particular animal, combining features from many different creatures.
A row of houses stood on the summit.
Xu Lu paced back and forth outside a door.
Xu Sangang sat in a chair, his brows tightly knitted. "Xu Lu, stop pacing around. You're making my head spin."
"I can't help it... Deputy Grounds Master, let's go. There's still a little time before the blood moon fully appears. Grand Master has entered the Formation Eye. He can't stop us." Sweat kept beading on Xu Lu's forehead, and the palm print on his face still hadn't faded.
"It's too late. How long is 'a little time'? An hour? Two hours? Getting down the mountain and back into the Taoist Grounds takes half a day. The blood moon has almost fully formed. It won't take that long. Those things are about to come out." Xu Sangang shook his head.
"Then let them come out! You're the Deputy Grounds Master of the Talisman Arts Lineage. Can't you suppress a few corpse-ghosts? Listen, first we do this, then we do that..." Xu Lu spoke even faster.
But Xu Sangang's face was filled with helplessness and bitter resignation.
Xu Lu let out a long breath and said quietly, "All right... looks like I'm really done for. Still, Mr. Luo and Xian were sent out first. At least they're safe."
"Grand Master has gone mad. What are we going to do if he gets the Venue Master killed? I can only hope the Venue Master knows his limits, like you do."
