Only Zhang Hang and Li Ya remained beneath the streetlamp.
"He was too accurate. All he left out was the name... Could there be a problem...?" Panic flickered in Li Ya's eyes.
"Haven't I already told you about my family?"
As Zhang Hang spoke, fine beads of sweat kept seeping from his forehead. He still looked uncertain.
"But... That's impossible..." Li Ya looked utterly bewildered.
The Old District was anything but peaceful that night.
Shrill police sirens wailed for a long time.
Many people stayed up to watch the commotion.
Yet Luo Bin, the man responsible for it all, slept soundly.
Moonlight shone through the glass onto the wooden table holding the incense and candles. The chair stood right in front of it, and a tobacco pipe had even appeared on the tabletop.
Luo Bin had neither moved the chair nor taken out the pipe.
Neither of the two old ghosts appeared again.
When he woke, Luo Bin headed for the steamed bun shop diagonally across the street, as usual.
But the moment he opened his door, he found at least a dozen people crowded outside.
There were men and women among them. A few faces looked vaguely familiar; Luo Bin had visited their homes the previous night.
Back then, their eyes had been suspicious. Some had even sneered.
Now they looked completely different. Their eyes were shining!
Everyone carried plenty of gifts, and they were eagerly trying to push forward.
Luo Bin frowned.
"Slow down! Calm down! Just calm down, all right!"
Zhang Hang stood at the front of the group with his arms spread wide. Without him blocking them, they probably would have crowded right into Luo Bin's face.
