Luo Bin backed away rapidly, his eyes scanning every direction, alert to everything around him. Then he broke into a sprint, racing back the way he had come!
Had anyone else witnessed this scene, they would have been scared out of their wits!
A head was impaled on the knife Luo Bin held at an angle. It was a human head, but below its neck was a snake's body, folded back around the blade and writhing constantly. Sunlight shone on its scales, outlining every one of them. It was utterly horrifying!
Luo Bin's heart beat faster and faster, then faster still!
He found the tree he had marked earlier and sprinted straight ahead from it!
The walk normally took fifteen minutes, but he might have covered it in just five before reaching the entrance to that detour-or was it the end?
A dull pain gripped his chest. Almost completely unable to catch his breath, Luo Bin finally managed to stop.
He braced one hand against a tree trunk and shakily raised the other. The Woodcutter's Knife had pierced straight through the center of the woman's forehead.
Her eyes remained wide open in death. Part of her icy snake tail had coiled around the knife's handle and two of his fingers, constricting so tightly it almost cut into his skin.
So this was a Beauty Snake?
It was too bizarre, too terrifying.
If he had not been able to keep his nerve, he probably would have lost his mind with fright on the spot, been bitten, and died there.
