"": 200, "": "", "": "Only then did Shang Liuli begin to talk.
She began with how she had entered Cabinet Mountain Town.
While attending the Incense Fair, she had encountered fog and entered Cabinet Mountain Town. The cat she had brought along, which had once stolen offerings to eat, and the rat that had stolen lamp oil to drink became her companions in the town.
Evil spirits gave people no peace at night, while demons could harm the Town Residents at any moment during the day. Partly because she could not bear to stand by, and partly for her own sake, she had begun hunting demons.
Shang Liuli's account was far too brief. What Luo Bin really wanted to know was how she had discovered the demons' existence, and how she could sense them entering Cabinet Mountain Town.
Before Luo Bin could ask, Shang Liuli raised a hand slightly in an inviting gesture and walked toward one of the rooms.
Luo Bin followed her inside. In the center of the room, a bronze bell hung from a roof beam. It was roughly the size of a human head, its surface covered in intricate raised patterns. On closer inspection, those patterns resembled talismans, profoundly mysterious and arcane.
"This was originally a Town Bell I intended to take to the Incense Fair, so I could ask a master to bless it with talismanic runes. Now, here in Cabinet Mountain Town, it has become my eyes and a line of defense."
"Whenever a demon enters Cabinet Mountain Town, the bell rings."
"By coincidence, it rang twice around the time you entered town. You dealt with the Beauty Snake, then the poison cat, and the danger passed."
Shang Liuli's words cleared up Luo Bin's confusion.
Yet he fell silent again.
