"": "By the time they returned to their home in the Urban Village, it was already well past midnight.
The first thing Luo Feng did upon entering was inspect the underside of the courtyard eaves. Luo Bin looked up and only then noticed a knife hanging there.
A red cord was tied around its handle. Its point was so sharp that, if it fell, it could pierce straight through someone's skull.
Red cord was one of the most common fate-suppressing objects.
Was this precaution meant to keep certain things out?
"It's fine. No one came in after we left." Luo Feng relaxed a little.
Gu Ya, who had been tense the whole time, finally eased up considerably. She murmured, "It's all thanks to Mr. Yunxi's lingering influence."
"Not entirely." Luo Feng shook his head. "Chen Zu is too clever. He's probably figured out everything about us. Mr. Yunxi is only part of the reason at most. The other part is Bin himself, and that special Compass. Chen Zu believes Bin has a Master behind him who's even more powerful than Zhang Yunxi. This is a gesture of goodwill, but it's also an investment."
Luo Bin nodded. Naturally, he understood all of that.
"This also tells us Mr. Yunxi is safe. Otherwise, Chen Zu wouldn't have treated us that way from the start. He only saw the Compass after inviting us inside," Luo Feng added.
When it came to observing these details, Luo Feng was even more meticulous than Luo Bin.
"We can have a few peaceful days now." He looked at Luo Bin and Gu Yiren.
"Don't worry, Yiren. We'll deal with whatever comes our way. Everything will be fine," Luo Feng reassured her again.
"Mm-hmm." Gu Yiren nodded firmly.
They returned to their respective rooms.
