Back when she was not yet the Temple Keeper, an old monk had come to the Kindling Temple.
He said he was a wandering monk and wanted to stay at the temple for a while.
The Temple Keeper at the time was Shang Liuli's Master, who let him stay.
During that period, many children disappeared from the foot of Cauldron Mountain, including newborn babies and young girls.
The old Temple Keeper exhausted every effort investigating, but never discovered the cause.
Then, late one night, Shang Liuli discovered that the old monk was not in his room. He did not return until dawn.
The following night, Shang Liuli and the old Temple Keeper secretly watched the monk and discovered that he had entered a cave on Cauldron Mountain.
Before daybreak, after the old monk left, master and disciple entered the cave. Inside, they saw skinned girls, a Golden Boy being roasted, and corpse oil being rendered from children.
It was the complete opposite of the old monk's kindly appearance.
After returning to the temple, the old Temple Keeper immediately turned on the monk and attacked him.
Instead, Shang Liuli watched helplessly as the old Temple Keeper's head flew up, pulling the connected entrails out of the body.
The old monk did not kill Shang Liuli. He merely stroked her head with that same kindly expression, then left the Kindling Temple. He never appeared again, and no one else disappeared from Cauldron Mountain.
Much later, Shang Liuli returned to that cave. Everything inside had been taken away.
Shang Liuli also investigated the old monk and learned that he was a Long Phu. He usually traveled in the guise of a monk, committing evil wherever he went, while the Taoists of Ancient Qiang
