This was one of Jin'an Lake's only two openings.
One was the inlet, and this was the outlet.
The outlet was clearly man-made rather than natural. Normally, water flowed downhill, but the ground outside the lake was slightly higher. Three deep channels had been forcibly excavated to carry the water away.
Looking farther into the distance, the channels stretched a long way, only bending at the edge of sight toward the outer boundary of the Ding direction.
The original Ding direction had been the outlet, so there must normally have been a river course there. Once the original opening was blocked, that river would inevitably dry up without another water source. By diverting the channels into it, the incoming water became Bing water, leaving the downstream flow unaffected.
Changing the feng shui here was simple.
